Jooyoung Hahn is a researcher specializing in computational modeling and computer simulation based on applied mathematics, with a particular focus on numerical methods for partial differential equations and their applications in engineering, physical, chemical, and biological sciences. His academic training in applied mathematics laid the foundation for a career that bridges theoretical rigor and real-world application. His research journey has included both academic appointments and industrial experience, notably at AVL List GmbH in Austria, where he focused on the development in computational fluid dynamics software for large-scale industrial applications.

Dr. Hahn is actively engaged in international collaboration, particularly in Korea–EU research initiatives, and has served as a consultant for cross-border R&D coordination. His broader research vision is to unify classical numerical analysis with data-driven models and neural network approaches, contributing to the development of reliable and interpretable simulation tools. The current research topics he is interested in are listed below:

  • Finite volume methods on polyhedral meshes for real life applications (FSI, Food Biotech)
  • Hybrid methods combining classical solvers with machine learning (Inverse problems, Parameter designs, Optimal control, Tokamak)
  • Topological data analysis (TDA) for high-dimensional scientific data (Mass spectra, Microbiome, Sound waves, Brain MRI, Reirradiation, Spatial Transcriptomics, Tumor Microenvironment, Large Language Models, etc)
